The statement from the group claims the three men— Ishaq Omar Hassan, 22, Yasin Osman Ahmed, 23, and Mukhtar Ibrahim Sheikh, 33 were spying for the US Central Intelligence Agency and the British spy agency MI6.
On its official twitter account July 22nd, the al-Qaeda-allied group said, "Hassan and Ahmed were both responsible for the deaths of Bilal al-Berjawi and three other [al-Shabaab members]." It further claims, “The two planted tracking devices in the vehicles of Al-Berjawi & his brothers which guided the missile strikes in the outskirts of Mogadishu."
Earlier, Al-Berjawi, who owns a dual citizenship of Lebanon and Britain, was stripped of his British citizenship, was killed outside Mogadishu in January missile strike. At the time of his death, he was the Al-Qaeda’s second in command in Somalia.
The three men were executed by a firing squad in the city centre, Marka. Eyewitnesses said that the Al-Shabaab Militia group called the local people using loudspeakers from the top of pick-up trucks to witness the execution of its three members being charged with spying for foreign governments especially US Central Intelligence Agency and the British spy agency M16.
